Christmas Spectacular at the Town Hall Symphony Hall in Birmingham

REVIEW | Christmas Spectacular | Symphony Hall

Christmas kicked off in style at the Symphony Hall this December with their annual Christmas Spectacular. Featuring stellar singers, a powerful orchestra and superb choir, it’s a production bursting with festive flair that is guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Conductor John Rigby oozes with charisma as he gets the crowd going ahead of the spectacle ahead. His warm and charming nature is a real treat as he conducts the London Concert Orchestra with the festive songs we all know and love. With everything from traditional numbers to the singalong classics, there’s something for everyone. The highlight is when he leads the audience into a huge all-singing, all-dancing Twelve Day Of Christmas.

Leading the show is current Phantom in the West End’s Phantom of the Opera Tim Howar. His vocals are sensationally versatile as he performs the beautiful ballads such as Driving Home For Christmas and White Christmas, the upbeat party hits like Step Into Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming to Townand the Spanish flavour of Mambo Santa Mambo.

Joined by international leading lady Kerry Ellis, her powerhouse vocals fill the Symphony Hall as she graces the stage to perform a variety of well-known classics. Opening with When a Child is Born, it’s clear as to why Kerry Ellis is such a sensation. Her voice is truly phenomenal and her stage presence proves why she is the queen of show business.

Alongside West End favourites, Kimberly Walsh hits the stage to sing some stunning songs such as I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter and Santa Baby. Guest singer Laura Pitt-Pulford showcases her remarkable voice in an array of festive favourites, but the highlight is Once Upon A December from Anastasia which sounds beautiful with the Capital Voices Choir.

Is there any better way to feel completely Christmassy than singing and dancing in the Symphony Hall to a festive extravaganza? It should be a Christmas tradition at the most wonderful time of the year, as this show is a spectacle like no other.

Check out the whole of the Town Hall and Symphony Hall’s festive programme on their website. West End star Kerry Ellis hosts A Night In The West End at the Town Hall on Sunday 27th of January.
