INSIDE | Exploring Inspiring Culture in the Heart of Berlin

Earlier this year I took a trip to my favourite place to visit in Berlin, the Chamaeleon Theatre, to catch their new production FINALE. Spending the weekend in Berlin is always a delight, and this time I managed to explore the wonder of the city through sightseeing, eating and drinking.

Of course, my main reason for visiting Berlin was to see FINALE. The venue itself is a beauty, with a striking art-deco style exterior and gorgeously authentic interior, it is the perfect venue to enjoy a proper Berlin evening. Their new contemporary circus production FINALE is bold, daring and entirely thrilling, and you can read my full five-star review right here.

You quite simply can’t go to Berlin without visiting the iconic East Side Gallery. Once part of the infamous Berlin wall, the 1.3km stretch is now the longest open-air gallery in the world and hosts a multitude of eclectic street art. Perfect for wandering along one afternoon, the vibrant colours create remarkable art that is unique to Berlin.

Despite this being my fourth trip to Berlin, I lacked knowledge about the history of the city. With my Berlin Welcome Card I gained discounted entry to the museum and it was an experience rich in interesting facts alongside the story of Berlin. As an interactive museum, it’s perfect for those with a shorter attention span as it allows you to have a real hands-on experience at the museum. From a timeline of the city, a visual representation of the people who lived there and a real-life replica of a typical Berlin family home, it was a highly engaging and insightful way to spend an hour and a half.

To Stay

Park Inn Hotel Alexanderplatz Berlin

Park Inn Hotel, Alexanderplatz

Perfectly located, the Park Inn Hotel in Alexanderplatz is ideal for a city-break. With its central location that towers over Alexanderplatz, the hotel room view is remarkable in itself. With a spacious room that contains all the amenities you’d require, a comfy bed and well-powered shower, it ticks all the boxes. A particular highlight of the hotel aside from the view is the delicious breakfast in the Spagos Restaurant.

With a glass roof, the atmosphere in the restaurant is gorgeous as it allows the sunlight to stream in and create a bright and glorious morning. With of food for all dietary requirements, and a mixture of both continental and hot breakfast, the breakfast was complimented by scrumptious tea and coffee. The wifi wasn’t very good in the hotel which let it down, especially if you were hoping to do work like I was, but aside from that, it was a pleasurable stay.

To Eat

Alway on the lookout for a healthy alternative on holiday, Berlin is bursting with delectable healthy food. With vegan and vegetarian restaurants on every corner, we stumbled upon Little Green Rabbit which creates incredibly fresh and versatile salads to suit anyone’s needs. Both filling and bursting with flavour, alongside the salads there were plenty of vitamin-packed juice drinks. I left feeling full and refreshed for an afternoon of sightseeing.

Spreegold, Berlin

With a slightly sore head from sampling Berlin’s best variety of gin, we head to Spreegold to enjoy a Berlin brunch in the sun. With a menu populated with almost too much food to choose from, I was delighted to tuck into a hearty portion of Eggs Benedict alongside a perfectly roasted latte. With outdoor seating to soak up the Berlin atmosphere and just a short walk from Alexanderplatz, it’s both super tasty and highly instagrammable.
