To commemorate 200 years since the birth of Charlotte Bronte, Northern Ballet are taking on the iconic story as their latest touring ballet.
Hannah Bateman leads the cast as Jane, a brave character with a tremendous amount of strength. Jane Eyre is a classic feminist role that broke the mould for leading young female characters who have a voice.
It’s one of literature’s finest love stories, young Jane is orphaned at a young age and treated cruelly by her aunt. After being sent away to a charitable school, she then becomes governess at Thornfield, owned by Mr Rochester. Jane Eyre is a story of their indescribable love for one another despite such different social backgrounds.
Choreographed by Cathy Marston, it’s a narrative piece that delves deeply into the emotions involved in the heart-rending story. Marston has meticulously choreographed each move to create an intricate piece that exudes passion and keeps the story alive.
